Movie: Reach For Our Dreams

 Movie: Reach For Our Dreams

Our movie is about chasing and achieving dreams and it can help you visualize success and give you the confidence to keep going. This song will motivate you to continue on the journey of your dreams and push through any adversity you may encounter on your way.  The idea for this movie came from all of Room 4 students. We talked about what we wanted to be when we grew up and we listened to some songs that could motivate the students to pursue their dream but we chose the song "Reach for our dreams" by S Club 7.

Trip to Stardome - Year 5 and 6 (Room 4 & 8)

On Monday the 10th of August, Room 4 and 8 went on a trip to Stardome. When we got there we had to eat our morning tea and drink the milk. After we had our morning tea and milk we got to play on the playground. There was a flying fox, swings,a little train, ropes to climb on  and other things.

Everyone went on a walk on the mountain then took some photos. After we did that we went down and had our lunch. We took some photos in front of the Stardome entrance then we had to wait to go inside Stardome. The presenters name was John who was teaching us about the solar system.

Later  we went inside a room where we learn about night and day and about the solar system. My teacher (Mrs Devi) took some photos, After we learnt about the solar system we did a scavenger hunt. There was seven questions and my group did it just in time. Then we went in an auditorium to watch the night sky and a movie. After this session we all went back to schoo.

Stardome Trip for Year 5 and 6 (Room 4 & 8)

On Monday the 10th of August we went to Stardome and we learned about the solar system. Before we went into  Stardome we played on the playground and went for a walk on a long pathway. After we finished our walk we went inside Stardome. When we went inside Stardome we went into this room to learn about the solar system.

The presenter John showed as around and he picked people to be planets and I got picked to be Venus. John gave us a tablet to do a scavenger hunt and we were all in different groups. We got most of the answers correct but we just got one wrong. After that we went into this big room but it wasn’t an ordinary room we sat on chairs and the chairs slid back and we had to look up at the tv on the roof . It looked like a round ball but when  John turned the picture around and around I felt like I was going to vomit.

After John finished showing the picture we watched a movie and it was about seeing the moons and planets live from 3D. When the movie was finished we all said good bye and said thanked John before we left to come back to school.  John gave each student a free ticket to come  back and visit again but this time we could go for free. After that we went back to school and then went home.

Information About The Attack On Pearl Harbor

Pearl Harbor is a lagoon on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, west of Honolulu. Pearl Harbor had many planes and ships there were Aichi D3A, Boeing B 17, Boeing E 13, Boeing P 23, and F2A. Some of the ships were BB 38, BB 39, BB 36, and BB 37.
It was December 7th, 1941 when the Japanese attacked and bombed Pearl harbor 2,400 American men and women died plus all the people also 1,000 people were hurt during the attack. Sadly no planes got in the air and everything was destroyed.
This had caused world war 2 so Japan had an alliance with Germany and Italy while America alliance with Egland, France, and the Soviet Union. Now Japan and America are very close to each other. Pearl Harbor has most of the weapons from America like planes men and ships.

Be With a Tree 2020 - 5 June 2020 - 14 June 2020

Be With a Tree is an annual nationwide event. It aims to inspire a love of nature that changes people’s lives as well as the face of the planet. The idea is to have lots of fun while becoming more aware of the trees around you
and their importance. Trees are linked with our identity, hold memories, provide habitat,
and help our climate. They are remarkable living entities and we want to celebrate
how wonderful they are. Be with a Tree is all about getting out into nature and noticing
big things like the old trees we walk by every day, as well as smaller things like
the insects and birds that depend on them. Trees are amazing living things.
They provide us with food, help prevent climate change, and give animals a home
to live in, they are incredible!

School will open on Monday 18th of May

You will have heard that NZ will be going into Alert Level 2 from Thursday 14th MAY and that schools will open for ALL students and staff from Monday 18th May.
All students and staff will be back, however, if your child is sick, they will be marked absent as normal and they will be required to stay home.

What will Alert Level 2 look like for us as a school?

  • Each space in the school has hand sanitisers and disinfectant for regular cleaning, including hand soap for hand washing in classrooms.
  • There is enough space for students to remain distant from each other
  • Our students, whanau and visitors use good hygiene practices by:
    • Coughing and sneezing into their elbows and not touching their faces
    • Washing hands regularly especially before and after break times
    • Staying home if they are unwell

Our school will be following strict guidelines set out by the Ministry of Health at all times.

What will Alert Level 2 mean for our families?
The school will ensure safe and strong hygiene practices are adhered to by students, staff, parents and visitors and there are systems in place to ensure this is done. We have to date had:

  • Entrance ways to classrooms sanitised by Chemwash
  • Each learning space including Resource Rooms, Library, meeting rooms and classrooms having sanitisers and disinfectants available for use
  • Classroom furniture and spaces have been wiped down with disinfectant prior to entry of students and prior to exit during the day. Staff understand regular cleaning of high use surfaces is and will be needed.
