Students home learning using 4 Elements of The TE WHARE TAPA WHĀ
Covid-19 by Aleki
Covid-19 is another name for coronavirus.Covid-19 is a pandemic disease all around the world. In New Zealand we have moved down to level 3 because the virus is slowing down.
We moved to level 3 on Monday on Anzac Day. We are on level 3 for 2 more weeks
and we wait till May 11 for the government to tell New Zealand if we are going to
level 2 or stay at level 4. If we don't wash our face and hands, stay home and social distances we could get the virus and might die or in hospital in intensive care. When we go to school and our parents go to work we still should social distance
so we don't have the virus.
Steps to keep us safe from the virus
1.Wash your hands and face for 20 seconds thoroughly after eating and playing2.If your going somewhere stay 2 metres from people.3.Stay home

Look what Aleki Has been doing in his bubble
In My Bubble during Covid-19
My bubble is the best. I get to play video games and do hangouts
and I read everyday, write, draw and other stuff. Sometimes I play outside
with my dog so I can get fresh air and a little energy.I am really excited to
be at school and sometimes I search up words that people don't know and I do.
It's better to stay home than going because there's a pandemic happening
all around the world but it's slowing down the disease is called covid-19.
We are now already on level 3 in New Zealand, we should keep our
distances at school.

Alilia and Malachi' Work
Alilia has been researching about Narwhals
Narwhals have a big tooth that is made of canine. They can live for 30 - 40 years. They can also eat about 66 pounds a day. An adult narwhal can weigh 940 kilograms.Narwhals live in the Arctic oceans of Greenland, Canada, Norway and Russia. Their tooth grows into a sharp sword. A full grownup narwhal can have a tooth that is 10 feet long. Narwhals are really beautiful sea creatures and really fun to explore about.
Malachi has been learning about rounding numbers to the nearest 10

The Solar System by Alilia
The solar system is sometimes called the milky way. It has a lot of planets. Some planets are called dwarf planets because they are not real planets such as pluto, comets and meteorites. There are eight planets in the solar system, one of them is called Saturn.Saturn is the sixth planet away from the sun. Saturn is the second biggest planet. Jupiter is the 5th planet away from the sun. Jupiter is the largest planet in the milky way. Mars can also be called the red planet. Mars is a cold dessert. It is the second smallest planet. That is all today about the solar system but there are more to discover. Here is a picture of all of them.
Information About Soil by Alilia
Soil is very helpful. Soil gives plants nutrients and water so they can be
they can be healthy. There are three different types of soil, there is loamy, sandy and clay soil and more. Soil is made out of air, water, organic material, inorganic material and it must have bacteria. Without soil we would not have plants and as for plants it gives us air so we wouldn't be here without soil. This is all for today but there is still a lot of information to explore.

Tomorrow is ANZAC Day: April 25
ANZAC Day is a very special
day to remember those who fought and sacrificed for our country so that we can
enjoy the freedom we have today. The cost of lives and the impact on families
was huge. We take time to pause and remember them. Each
year on Anzac Day, New Zealanders (and Australians) mark the
anniversary of the Gallipoli landings of 25 April 1915. On that day,
thousands of young men, far from their homes, stormed the beaches on
the Gallipoli Peninsula in what is now Turkey. Gallipoli
continues to be a focus, however, all wars and conflicts have become part of
the ANZAC remembrance of those who paid the price. Our Freedom is not free - it
comes with a heavy price. Let's use it for good and to lead full lives focused
on being kind. The first two weeks of distance learning has been an interesting
and rewarding journey together. Thank you for engaging in your learning the way
that you have. If you know you could do more, I would be happy to receive what
you send in - after all, we are going into Week 3 of Term 2!
Have a great weekend - be
kind, be safe, and be happy in your bubble!

Alilia's Story about ANZAC Day
Anzac Day is a time to remember about the soldiers that fought in the war. We wear poppies because we are grateful for what they did. We have a one minute of silence to respect the soldiers that died and for the soldiers that survived through the war. The soldiers that did that are really brave.Thank you soldiers.

Earth Day 2020 on April 22nd - Creations from Room 4
Malachi's Earth Day Creation
Alilia's Story
Earth day is a time to care about the environment. It’s also about trying to protect it especially while the virus is here. We have to care about plants because they give us air to breath and we help them when we breathe out carbon dioxide which they breathe as well. This is a picture of a nice garden with a house.
Happy Earth Day 2020 on April 22nd
Earth Day is celebrating its 50th birthday today!!!
50 years ago, people around the world celebrated the first Earth Day (April 22, 1970).
Most of us won't be venturing into the great outdoors on Wednesday (April 22), but you can still celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day in style at home during covid-19 lockdown.
Earth Day is celebrated every year on the 22 of April for the last 47 years. In 1970, a US Senator from Wisconsin, created this national day to create awareness of the environment and how we treat nature. Today this day is celebrated as an international event in 193 countries.
All over the world, we have an affect on the environment through all our actions or even by simply living as we do. We use electricity and water, use of transport such as cars, buses and airplanes to go to school or work. Remember that also by eating the food we need for surviving we all affect our environment, as that food is planted and harvested, transported to a store near you by big trucks who also pollute the environment. The waste we produce and the way we dispose of our waste is creating many problems.
On behalf of Room 4 students for Earth Day 2020 Mrs Devi Planted some plants to celebrate Earth Day at home.

Stories from Room 4 about their home learning during covid-10 lockdown
Hi Everyone,
This is week 2 of term 2 and look what Alilia from 4 has been writing during home learning.
Alilia's Story
During the lockdown I had to stay at home in my bubble. I did some writing and a lot of reading. I really miss school but I also have to keep myself safe from coronavirus. I’ve been doing some chores at home with my siblings but we keep two metres away from each other. For exercise I do running in the hallway. My sister lets me play math games on her chromebook.I hope scientists will find a cure so I can go to school and so we can be safe.
Here is a link to a video that will explain COVID 19 or Coronavirus.

Friday 17th April - Home Learning During Covid-19
Hi Everyone in Room 4
I am so happy to see lots of Room 4 students joining our daily Google Hangout meeting to share what they are grateful for and the things they have been learning while they are at home. Room 4 students are excellent at writing recounts and sharing them with others. Here are three recounts written by three Room 4 students in the first week of our learning from home during covid-19.

Renei's Recount
Hi this is Renei live in the lounge.
During week 9 New Zealand went into lockdown because of covid-19,covid-19 is a very bad virus most people are anxious/worried that is why 1 member in your house or car will go into the supermarket.
Being in a lockdown is boring for me, why you might ask?
because you can't go anywhere or you can't play with your friends and you can't go to your friends house.
Then something hits your brain, those things or words you say. I feel so bored that I want to go back to school and play with my kind friends and we also have a lot of learning to do. some people don't like school and some people do.
Thank you for reading my recount.

My Holiday
On the holiday I did an Easter Egg hunt with my brother, sister, mum and dad. There were lots of clues the first clue was in a red shoe, and all the clues had Easter eggs, lollies and stuff and my dad was recording the hole thing. One day me and my friends from church, got to see each other on Zoom, it was like Sunday school. We also have online church, and bible study every Sunday and Wednesday.I got to play pole tennies with my dad and brother, stayed in bed, sleep in, play on my table with Jeremiah and that was my holiday.
